Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on how our feelings are impacted by our thoughts. It is based on the belief that thoughts, rather than people or events, cause our negative feelings. The counselor helps the client identify, test the reality of, and correct dysfunctional beliefs in their thinking. The therapist then helps the client modify those thoughts or behaviors that flow from them. CBT has been proven to help clients in a relatively short amount of time with a wide range of disorders, including depression and anxiety.
